Industrial enterprises promote investment in energy efficiency technology for sustainable development

22/10/2025

Using energy efficiently and economically not only helps enterprises optimize production costs and enhance competitiveness but also contributes to the sustainable development of the economy. Industrial enterprises prioritizing investment in energy efficiency technology have achieved practical results.

Visiting Hanoi Beer - Alcohol - Beverages Investment Development Joint Stock Company (HABECO-ID), we could sense the enthusiastic spirit in the production activities of the staff, workers, and employees there. With modern production lines, the products manufactured and sold by HABECO-ID maintain consistent quality and eliminate many toxic substances during processing stages. Moreover, advanced technology also helps the company reduce energy consumption in the production process.
“In recent years, we have actively applied many energy efficiency solutions, such as investing in modernizing production line equipment to enhance energy efficiency and performance. We conserve electricity during peak hours, apply smart energy management technology, and utilize real-time energy consumption measurement and monitoring systems. We have replaced coal-fired boilers with clean fuel boilers to reduce CO2 emissions, made use of waste heat, reused energy, and decreased greenhouse gas emissions,” shared Mr. Tran Dang Tuan, Deputy Director of the Company.
Song Da Cao Cuong Joint Stock Company (SCL), one of the largest construction material manufacturers in the country, is applying the circular economy model, one of the typical models in Vietnam for industrial waste treatment. In this model, fly ash from coal-fired thermal power plants, chemical fertilizers, and waste from the steel industry and some other sectors will be deeply processed after treatment. Mr. Kieu Van Mat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SCL, emphasized: "We have identified dual benefits in investing in energy efficiency solutions. Firstly, the use of efficient energy sources helps reduce product costs, enhance competitiveness, and support sustainable business growth. Secondly, it protects the environment, which is an inevitable trend in industrial development in Vietnam and the world".
SCL and HABECO-ID are two exemplary enterprises participating in the Vietnam - Denmark Energy Partnership Program for the period 2020 – 2025 (DEPP3). The Voluntary Agreement Scheme (VAS) under DEPP3 began piloting in 2023, in which enterprises voluntarily commit to implementing energy efficiency measures. In return, they receive free technical assistance, including energy audits according to international standards, and pre-feasibility or feasibility studies to propose bankable energy efficiency projects. To date, the VAS program has supported 21 key energy-consuming industrial enterprises, helping to identify 119 energy efficiency projects with potential cost savings of about USD 6 million annually.
Ms. Tran Hong Viet, Senior Program Manager at the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam, stated: “I hope enterprises will implement the solutions advised by the experts. At the same time, it will help to expand these solutions within its own industry and share experiences with other corporations. This will help raise awareness among the Vietnamese business community to invest further in efficient and economical energy use.”
As Vietnam enters a new stage of development, which demands both rapid growth and sustainability, the Vietnam-Denmark cooperation model within the DEPP3 framework is a paradigm of responsible energy transition, placing people and the planet at the center. Implementing energy efficiency solutions in enterprises not only brings financial benefits but also contributes to building a sustainable and reputable image with customers and the community. By reducing energy waste, enterprises can create a more efficient working environment, enhance competitiveness, and meet the standards for greenhouse gas emission reduction and environmental protection.
